Cracked Ice Soul Noir Cracked Ice is a NYC-based, 7-member, retro-nuevo soul band, named after a stomping Earl Bostic jukebox hit from waaaay back in the day. Saxophonist Crispin Cioe formed the group early in the millennium to perform regularly at blue-light bars, swank affaires, blind pigs, elegant occasions, beach blanket bongo bashes, dirt-floor dives, back-alley boites, and esteemed concert stages. Their latest release, Soul Nour is retro-nuevo soul/r&b, like soul classics, only brand new ones you’ve never heard before! Click here to hear/order
Crispin Cioe Burnzy’s Last Call (soundtrack) Called “cooler than cool,” by Billboard, Crispin produced, arranged and wrote or co-wrote seven of the tracks on this eclectic soundtrack to the award-winning 1999 indie film Burnzy’s Last Call. With new songs from Lou Christie, Graham Parker, David Johansen, Debbie Harry, Evan Dando, Soozie Tyrell, the Smithereens and his own Uptown Horns, Crispin has created a unique musical expression that is both evocative of 60’s and 70’s and would also sound right at home on a NYC dive bar jukebox today. The Uptown Horns The Uptown Horn Revue Throughout their 30 years together as session/touring pros, the Uptown Horns have always maintained their stellar band The Uptown Horns Revue, worked on their original songs, and performed regularly at East Coast clubs, often featuring guest stars like Willy DeVille, Peter Wolf, Catherine Russell, Joe Louis Walker, Southside Johnny, Debbie Davies, and Johnny Copeland. This album, also titled “The Uptown Horns Revue”, is the culmination of those years, and includes a stellar cast of friends-of-the-Horns that include Keith Richards, Peter Wolf, and the late great Albert Collins – performing on a bracing blast of rhythm & blues.
